"I just want to go home ... and listen to some Sade," -- A heartbroken Marcus in 'Boomerang'

I read about celebrity birthdays everyday, but few are worthy of a shotout on this blog. However, when I learned that today is the 48th birthday of Helen Folasade Adu, I knew I had to do something. For me, Sade is truly special. Her singing can truly put me in a mood and either make me feel really good or really bad, typically the latter.

There's nothing like Sade on a rainy day.
Or Sade after a breakup.
Or Sade when he doesn't act right.
Or Sade when you love him, but you know it will never be.

I mentioned previously how hard it is to find good music nowadays, so it's refreshing to have an outlet. Anyway, here's my girl. Check her out:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SADE!!!!!! *sigh* I remember the one and only Sade concert I've seen. 2001, right after my first love (who had also given me her last album) broke my heart. You would think going to a Sade concert at that time would be a pretty bad idea, but I was too distracted by her beautiful voice! Where have the Sades gone?

yes, where are the sades of today? i'm listening to her 'lovers rock' cd as we speak. i'm so jealous that you've seen her live. i haven't done so. part of me fears it would be too emotional!

Rite on s/c/w, rite on! Sade, such a soothing voice. But I gotta give props to her band...now THAT's what makes her music so wonderful. They go together like peanut butter and jelly! 4sho.

Sade's band has their own albums...they perform as "Sweetback" and their albums have featured Amel Larrieux, Maxwell, Chocolate Genius, Aya, and Bahamadia. They have two albums...I own both! :0)

They also produced Maxwell's albums...their hand was all over the first album, especially. Check 'em out, you'll love it!!!

Btw, I'm telling you guys, Les Nubians is like the Frenchie version of Sade...mais, bien sur!

Hey Mlle. Smith -- I have Les Nubians, forgot to mention that! I only have cd#1 tho, I wasn't aware they did anything else. And I have one of the Sweetback albums too. You're right, I do love it!
